Love All, Choose Few

(A Wine Musing)

As affable as you may be, it’s unlikely you get along perfectly with everyone you know or meet.

There’s a good chance someone who gives you the most grief is a family member.  This is because you did not choose your family.

The offender may be a co-worker or a member of an organization with which you are affiliated.  Again, you did not choose.

But your family…and everyone in your life…is important and valuable.  For you and the purpose of your life, those who challenge and frustrate you likely are teaching you important lessons and helping you develop as an individual.

The unchosen may be a catalyst for your character development, instructing you in adaptability, perseverance, resiliency.  They may be playing a key role in a life lesson that’s just for you, a lesson that’s difficult to learn and requires ongoing prodding.

Look for the lesson, and try to learn.  Love those who help you learn.

And choose those you like, those who build you up, giving you the strength to learn from those you have not chosen.
